The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology/Cybercrime, Senator Yakubu Oseni has received in audience, fourteen students he sponsored for nation’s scholarship examination.
Senator Oseni was yesterday highly elated when one of his wards, Ilyasu AbdulWakeel was declared as the overall best students out of 20 students selected from 18 Northern states.
The scholarship examination which was held in Kano State on Saturday had thirteen other students sponsored by Senator Yakubu Oseni from Kogi Central making the list aside Ilyasu AbdulWakeel who came first.
The students are Yakubu AbdulBaqi, Sadiq Hamza, Shuaibu Muhammed Obaro, Otaru Victor, Sule Peace, Abubakar Kubura and Danjuma Hikmatullah.
Others are Mustapha Zainab, AbdulAzeez Aisha, AbdulAzeez Fatima, AbdulAzeez Ruqayyah, Tijjani Rizqat and Ishaq AbdulRauf.
Senator Oseni, in his remark, emphasised that all children should have equal access to quality education and promised that he would continue to facilitate scholarship opportunities to hardworking students in his constituency.
“Truly, you’re all leaders of tomorrow and to ensure effective leadership, your education has to be on a sound footing. I will continue to support you all in the best possible ways to actualise your dreams,” he said.
The lawmaker subsequently gave each of the beneficiaries a copy of either Qur’an or Holy Bible, just as he urged them to continue to be good ambassadors to their parents and Kogi State in general.Aside this, some students enjoying Senator Yakubu Oseni’s scholarship are presently in various schools in Russia and Germany.
