Senator Abubakar Ohere has empowered over 100 individuals on different skills.
The beneficiaries that cut across Kogi Central senatorial district recently graduated from the Short Term Skill Acquisition Training.
The beneficiaries who were trained by expert were provided with essential startup packs, and each received N100,000 to kickstart their entrepreneurial endeavors.
Engr. Abubakar Ohere, who was represented at the occasion by the CMD of Okene Reference Hospital, Prof. Solomon Avidime emphasized the importance of applying the acquired skills to transform economic circumstances. He commended the participants’ dedication and resilience, urging them to empower their communities and inspire future generations.
Prof. Avidime reassured participants of Sen. Ohere’s continued support and announced plans for more training programs aimed for women and youth across Kogi Central.
Prof. Avidime further expressed gratitude to Sen. Abubakar Ohere for his unwavering commitment to eradicating poverty and promoting financial independence among youths and women.
“I am working on plans to lobby and attract more and bigger projects to various communities in the senatorial district.
“I will also ensure continuous engagement with the grassroots through implementation of various social intervention programmes in support of our people at the grassroots,” he said.
The senator further explained that the empowerment of the youths and women in the senatorial district is his own contribution towards reducing unemployment and poverty among his people.
“I congratulate all the beneficiaries of this programme and urge them to diligently apply the skills learnt in the course of their training for their socio-economic advancement of themselves and indeed the advancement in the society
“The slogan is: start small and grow big. Please shun the temptation of selling empowerment equipment for quick cash that will not multiply.
Mr. Audu Francis, who was the focal person of the empowerment, urged participants to view their newly acquired skills as valuable assets. He assured attendees that the Monitoring and Evaluation Team would ensure the empowerment packs were utilized effectively.
Hajiya Avoyi, who is one of the beneficiaries, praised the training program for its transformative impact on their communities, noting its potential to enhance economic growth and combat poverty at the grassroots level.
