Senator Ogembe’s Technical Committee on Resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel Submit Reports

The technical committee set up by the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatoral district, Ahmed Ogembe, on resuscitation of the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL) and National Iron Mining Company  (NIOMCO) has submitted its report.
In a brief ceremony in Ogembe’s office at the National Assembly, the leader of the committee, Chief AK Salihu, thanked the Senator for counting them worthy and competent to handle the great assignment on behalf of the people of Kogi Central senatorial district.
Senator Ogembe set up the committee on 18th of August 2016 with the term of reference; To investigate the causes of setbacks suffered by the ASCL and NIOMCO.
The committee is  to also collate the views and suggestions of expert in the Iron and Steel industry and critical stakeholders on how best to revive the project and    advise the  senator appropriately based on the findings of the committee.
In his response, the senator thanked the committee for doing a diligent job and promised to mobilise his colleagues in the national assembly and other stakeholders to key in to the resuscitation agenda of the companies.
The Senator described the two Steel and Mining Companies as having the capacity to revolutionise infrastructures in the central and Kogi state by extension and create job opportunities for the teaming unemployed youths in the state.
Members of the technical committee includes;  Hon AK Salihu who serves as the chairman, Mr Suleiman Joseph, Comrade Baba Rasaq, Otori Salihu and Mumin A. Sanni.
Others include Hon Bode Ogunmola, Comrade Abubakar Isah,  Dr Halimat Salihu,  Hon Aloysius Okino and Comrade Abubakar Momoh who serves as Secretary of the committee.
