Senator Ogembe Assures Nigerians of Quick Passage of 2018 Budget

Sen. Ahmed Ogembe, the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has assured Nigerians that the senate would give required attention to the 2018 national budget for quick passage.
Ogembe told journalists on Tuesday in Lokoja, that President Muhammadu Buhari, has done well in presenting the budget in good time, saying the President deserved commendation and encouragement.
He assured Nigerians that the budget would be passed in due time, saying the National Assembly would commenced work on its appropriation immediately the agencies were ready to appear before the relevant committees.
Ogembe stressed that the position of the National Assembly was that the current 2017 Budget should be funded to reflate the economy as Government needed to spend more to boost the economic activities.
He added that though the National Bureau of Statistics, has shown that Nigeria is out of recession marginally, but the main concern is how the people will benefit from sound economic policies to improve their wellbeing.
The senator also commended the effort of President Buhari in curbing insecurity especially in the North East and crime reduction, which has been consistent across the country.
Speaking on incessant killings in Kogi especially in the central, the senator appealed to the security agencies not to allow desperate politicians to influence their operations to victimize opposition for selfish gain.
He said: “I commend the Chief of Army Staff on the recent Operation Lion Roar in Kogi central which was successful and professionally carried out.
“I make bold to say that the security agencies have distinguished themselves by not acting anyone’s script; I thank them for truncating perceived planned genocidal killings in our land”.
He, however urged the traditional rulers, ward heads, community leaders and everyone to support the military and police by providing useful information that would help to track criminals.
Ogembe reaffirmed his commitment and determination to attract more developmental projects to all the five local government areas of his constituency.
“I have been representing my people well in the Senate and will step up my game to attract more projects, jobs, skills acquisition and empowerment programs for the youths.
“We shall continue to push and lobby for the resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel Company and the National Iron Ore Mining Company for job creation and economic growth,” he said.
Ogembe, a senator under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said the structures of the party were being nurtured and strengthened by reorganizing themselves for victory in future elections
