In Kogi West Senatorial district, where clean water access has long been a challenge, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi is consistently focused on addressing this fundamental need across Kogi West.

His pragmatic approach combines new infrastructure with rehabilitation of existing ones.

Since assuming office in June 2023, Senator Karimi has successfully facilitated the installation of 75 solar-powered boreholes in communities previously relying on distant or contaminated water sources.

These systems operate independently of the unreliable national power grid, providing consistent access even in remote villages.

Complementing these new installations, the Senator’s office has rehabilitated 60 previously abandoned or malfunctioning water schemes.

This dual approach of “building new while fixing old” has proven more effective than focusing solely on new projects.

“Water isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity,” local resident in Effo- Amuro, Sunday Ilelabowo told correspondent during a visit to one of the newly served communities.

“Before this borehole, our women had to rely on unhygienic sources for water.”

The impact extends beyond convenience.

He further said, health center records from areas with new water systems show decreased cases of waterborne diseases, particularly among children and the elderly.

While challenges remain in reaching the most remote parts of the district, Senator Karimi’s water initiatives represent a tangible improvement in daily life for many constituents.

The focus on solar-powered systems also demonstrates foresight in a region plagued by electricity shortages.

Whether this progress will translate to political capital remains to be seen, but for those now accessing clean water, the immediate benefit transcends politics.

We are positive that Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi is poised to making lives better for Kogi West Constituents, who have long being depraved of dividends of democracy.

No doubt, things can only get better with Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi in the saddle of leadership in the Red dome come 2027.
