Mallam Realone Emeje a prominent Kogi-based political analyst and social commentator, has thrown his weight behind Senator Sunday Karimi’s recent declaration that re-election should be based on performance, not intimidation.

Emeje affirmed that the senator’s stance reflects the views of the vast majority of patriotic citizens in Kogi State.

In a statement issued on Monday, Emeje emphasized that the people of Kogi should not be coerced or threatened into endorsing any candidate in the upcoming gubernatorial election. His remarks came in response to Senator Karimi’s call for accountability and performance-based politics, which has resonated widely across the state.

“Senator Karimi spoke the minds of about 90% of patriotic Kogites,” Eimeje stated. “The decision to re-elect any leader must be rooted in tangible achievements and service delivery—not fear, bullying, or empty promises.”

Senator Karimi, who represents Kogi West in the National Assembly, has been vocal about the need for good governance and transparency, especially as the state prepares for the next gubernatorial polls. His position has garnered significant support from civil society groups, youth advocates, and community leaders who are demanding greater accountability from elected officials.

Emeje, known for his incisive commentary on state and national politics, urged citizens to critically evaluate the track records of all aspirants and make informed choices at the ballot. He warned against the use of political pressure or financial inducement to sway public opinion, describing such tactics as detrimental to democracy.

The upcoming election in Kogi is already generating intense debate, with stakeholders calling for a peaceful, credible, and issue-based process. As voices like Senator Karimi’s and Mallam Eimeje’s grow louder, many hope the election will mark a turning point for governance in the state.
