Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) and senator-elect, Hon. Sunday Karimi has expressed profound gratitude to the people of Kogi West senatorial district for their overwhelming support during last Saturday’s poll.
In a message of gratitude he personally signed, the former House of Reps member said he will appreciate the electorate for the rest of his life.
Karimi thanked Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu and Lokoja/Kogi federal constituencies for supporting the yearnings for Yagba to produce the Senator representing Kogi West.
“First of all, I cannot thank the people of Kogi West enough. They demonstrated clearly their love for me and their quest for equity for voting overwhelmingly for me. And I want to assure them that I will do ALL to bring the dividends of democracy to the people. I can’t do it alone but I believe God will do it for me.
“I will not say that I am surprised because the campaign took us to all the 85 electoral wards in Kogi West Senatorial District and most of the communities. The people told us no other aspiring candidates had undergone such vigorous campaign like us.
“From the overwhelming response of our people I will not say I am surprised that they demonstrated it through giving us their votes. I will appreciate them for the rest of my life and serve them to the best of my ability.
“To my party men and women, I will remain a loyal APC member and work for the unity of the party not only to retain Kogi State in the upcoming governorship election but also to make the people feel the impact of governance on sustained economic growth, infrastructural development and human welfare in all the communities.
“At the centre, I have no doubts that the incoming Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu presidency will be the best to ever happen to Nigeria. We saw what he did as Lagos State Governor, so we believe he will turn around Nigeria for the best, when he is declared President-elect. I want to thank Governor Yahaya Bello for his support for me and the fact that he worked hard for the successes of APC all over the state.
“I must add that the yearning for Yagba to produce the Senator representing Kogi West at this time received overwhelming support from the entire Kogi West. Yagba people were solidly there for me, Lokoja/Kotonkarfe people were fantastic, even Kabba-Bunu-Ijumu people, the federal constituency of my main opponent supported this course. Can you imagine that in Kabba/Bunu Local Government especially, we shared it 50/50. My friend, Tajudeen Yusuf, who is from Kabba/Bunu only led me there by 23 votes.
“Ijumu voted for me overwhelmingly. I led in Ijumu by close to 3500 votes.
“So, I will say the entire Kogi West people made this victory happen and I will say that Yagba Federal Constituency will remain grateful to Lokoja/Kotonkarfe and Kabba-Bunu-Ijumu Federal Constituencies for having confidence in Yagba this time.”
