Senator representing Kogi East, Atai Aidoko Ali has expressed reservation on the absence of unity and drop in values between the elites and citizens in Igala/Bassa land.
The senator made the observation during a courtesy call by the executives of Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA) in his office at the National Assembly Abuja.
Aidoko tasked the socio-cultural group on the task of reconciling the entire race with a view to forming a formidable force in all ramifications which will in turn affect the people of the area positively in all their endeavours.
He frowned at the continuous divide and rule tactics of some of the elites and prominent people, saying the approach will not augur well for the people politically and economically.
The task ahead of the body, according to Aidoko, is to discourage the influence of people in government who have turned the area to haven of thuggery, social vices under the guise of political mobilisation.
“It is only in Igala land that you can find underaged children discussing politics rather than building their life career at that tender age,” he said.
Senator Aidoko commended the body on its continuous orientation and ‎economic discovery in the area cash crops, particularly the proliferation of cashew seed business, tasking them to resist any subtle efforts to frustrate the thriving natural endowment through any guise.
He commended the body for con‎sidering him worthy of visit and great honour. He advised them to insulate and extricate the body from any political influence and strive to improve on the traditional roles of an unbiased umpire to further the nest of socio-cutural and political development of the area, promising to support the association in all areas.
Earlier, the President of ICDA, Abubakar Sadiq said‎ the visit was a routine one to all the prominent sons and daughters of the area on the need to synergise for the development of the area.
