It is no longer news that the shadow Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Smart Adeyemi, who went to the red chamber the third time through hundred percent sponsorship from Governor Yahaya Bello and his cabinet members, has decided to finger the eyes he once relied on for sight.
The less-performing Senator recently granted an interview to newsmen at the just concluded Iyara Day celebration, and indirectly accused the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku Jamiu, for staging quiz competitions and other programs just to gain favours to and to succeed his principal, Governor Yahaya Bello.
Smart Adeyemi said up: “As for me, I believe for now, nobody should talk about Governorship ambition or power shift. Nobody should be doing one program or another to curry favour for the guber ticket; whether school competition, debate or whatever disguised programs, because the presidential ambition of the governor should be the paramount. Any appointees or political players that is doing such is an enemy of the governor. Such person does not love the governor because it shows inconsideration to the governor’s ambition”
Before I proceed, I will like to as the mannequin Senator what is the correlation between Kogi gubernatorial race, power shift and quiz competition?
Kogi West selected, sorry elected a Senator, that has lost touch with his people a long time ago and is hardly moved by the yearnings and groaning of the people who elected him. Twelve years as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Iyara the capital of Ijumu Local Government Area and hometown of Senator Smart Adeyemi is still existing as a glorified village without basic amenities to boast about.
We are aware of laudable projects he executed in the diaspora during his first and second tenure as a Senator. We are aware of how he was branded as the third Senator from Kwara State. We are aware that the only achievement so far by Smart Adeyemi was an elaborate wedding months after he assumed office. We are also aware that Smart Adeyemi is not in the business of lifting people around him, but a use and dump leader with not followers growth. Why then should we take him serious when he verbally suggested that no programs should be organized in the state; as such acts is an idea to seal the gubernatorial ticket and gain favors.
Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku Jamiu just concluded a Quiz competition sponsored by his foundation, The Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku Youth Empowerment Foundation (PAAYEF), with schools from Kogi West Senatorial District smiling home with cash gifts and valuable items. Instead of the Senator representing the same region to congratulate the beneficiaries whom are from his district, he is busy chasing the wind; as he is blinded by an ambition dead on arrival.
Pharmacist Asuku is from Kogi Central. He could have started the competition from his region but he did not. He chose to start from where he has no political ties or obligations to fulfill, and this is Pharm. Asuku doing the works of all appointees from Kogi West combined.
The statement made by smart Adeyemi is a clear indication that the Senator is only after his own interests and cares less about what affects his constituents. The only enemy to the Governor is someone who his election was fully funded by the Governor, and bankrolled even after months in office for him to be stabilized, to turn back and finger the eyes he once used for sight.
The Governor should have known that people like Senator Smart Adeyemi are too ambitious to be trusted with power. The Governor should henceforth be aware that those instigating one region against another are his true enemy.
The people of Kogi West Senatorial District are thankful to Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku Jamiu for creating a platform that benefits students, youths, and the good people of Kogi State. We therefore apologize on behalf of our supposed Senator and urging the workaholic Chief of Staff not to be distracted but stay committed to his good works across the three Senatorial Districts.
