Senator Abubakar Ohere Moves Motion for Resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel, Other Critical Infrastructures

Senator representing Kogi Central, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, on Tuesday moved his first motion in the floor of the senate calling for urgent resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel Company to fill the gap in local demand for steel.

In his motion, Senator Ohere called for measures to curb the incessant cases of building collapse, bridges, roads and other critical structural failures in Nigeria.

The Senator further advanced measures which includes strengthening of supervisory agencies, affordable and quality reinforcement materials such as iron rods, skilled manpower development.

He said with the resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel Company, the level of unemployment in Nigeria will reduce as it will provide employment for youths and help lay the critical foundation for the country’s industrialization.

Senator Ohere said savings from the fuel subsidy removal should be reinvested in Ajaokuta Steel Company.
