The Kogi East Elders’ Council has unanimously recommended Dr Victor Alewo Adoji of African Democratic Congress (ADC) for adoption as Kogi East senatorial candidate come 2019.
The decision for Dr Adoji’s adoption was reached after a diligent consultation and interaction with all the aspirants including the sitting senator Attai Aidoko Ali Usman.
The meeting which was held at Chida International Hotel, Abuja between December 7 and 8, 2018 was said to have lasted for hours as each aspirant was made to undergo an hour thirty minutes questioning – the medium through which Adoji emerged with the highest score of 88.8% ahead of other aspirants.
Members of the committee in attendance were; Prof. Sunday Okpanachi (Chairman), Chief J.U. Idachaba, Prof. S.O Ejima, Dr. Oyiguh Simeon Omakoji, Hon. Vicent Baba, Hon. (Mrs) Ruth Eke Iyaji and the host of others.
In a recommendation brief by the Chairman, the committee which believed Dr Victor Adoji deserved the point he scored said: “On the basis of the outcome of the interaction, the candidate who deservedly scored the highest rating, Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji of ADC, is hereby recommended for adoption as the Igala/Bassa senatorial candidate come 2019.
Speaking further, the committee admitted to have found in Dr. Adoji a focused, dynamic, clear-headed and patriotic young man whose antecedent coupled with his vision will propel the Igala/Bassa people and land to heights that could be envied by others in the nearest future.
The committee further advised the traditional and community leaders, political leaders, Kogi East academia, market women, socio-cultural organizations and the entire districts to ensure Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji’s victory in the forthcoming general elections.
Meanwhile, Kogi East elders’ council is famous for its struggles in deepening democratic space in Kogi East and the state at large through all-inclusive and open dialogue between citizen and political aspirants.
This is further proven in the opening speech of the chairman. He noted that; “at the time when the Igala/Bassa ethnic nationalities find themselves at critical crossroads in their political itinerary, the Kogi East Elders council established the committee to facilitate a viable and smooth political transition and development in the zone”.
The committee was also said to have been birthed by political and business elites, academia and various professionals and socio-cultural group with the mandate to; Provide a level playing field for contestants of various political offices across the three tiers of government from the zone. To screen and present the best candidates for proper representation of Kogi East at all political offices.
In conclusion, the committee members appreciated Kogi East Elders’ council, political committee for the opportunity given to them to serve the people of the zone. They expressed hope that all required supports will be accorded Dr Victor Alewo Adoji to facilitate his victory.
Similarly, The prestigious Saint Joseph Catholic in Anyigba Kogi state, last week, presented a certificate of credence/Humanitarian Ambassadorship to Dr Victor Adoji in recognition of his numerous discreet selfless services to humanity.
Speaking at the laudable honor, the leader of Saint Charles Lwanga society of the church affirmed Dr. Victor Adoji as a true worthy son of Igala/Bassa nation whose achievement in human endeavours remains unparalleled.
The clergy further enjoined others, particularly the most privileged in the society to cultivate his virtue in the course of humanity.
