Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Busari has denied placing impeached Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba under house arrest.
Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja on Saturday, Busari said policemen barricaded the Deputy Governor’s official residence to prevent looting of government property.
According to him, security personnel barricaded the residence following an advice given to Achuba to relocate from the official residence of the deputy governor since he is no longer entitled to stay there. He said that the security personnel at the gate will be there until Achuba finally moves out of the house.
The presence of fully armed security personnel manning the gate of the official residence of the deputy governor and preventing visitors from going in nor allowed out of the house was earlier reported.
The embattled Deputy Governor was impeachment on Friday shortly after the seven man committee investigating allegations of gross misconduct against him submitted its report to the State House of Assembly.
