The Acting National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe, has expressed condolence to Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, national chairman of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), on the death of his mother, Madam Lydia Yilwatda, which occurred on Sunday August 17, 2025, in Jos.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, the SDP noted that it is hard for one to loose one’s mother, particularly a great pillar that she was, at a critical period such as this, that Professor Yilwatda is saddled with a major task of piloting the affairs of the nation’s ruling party.

“The SDP shares in the grief of the APC national Chairman, considering that this sad occurrence is coming at a time that the invaluable wise counsel and support of his mother are most needed by him.

“The fact of Mama Lydia having glorious bequests of notable offsprings who have made, and are still making remarkable contributions to national development, and the testimony of her good Christian life as a dutiful and supportive wife to her late husband, Reverend Tome Goshewe Yilwatda in the course of his service to God across the North-East, and being a great mother and lover of people, are sufficient consolations for the family.”

On behalf of the National Working Committee of the party, and the entire SDP family in Nigeria, the party prayed that God comforts Professor Nentawe Yilwatda and wished the entire family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
