The Kogi State Forum of Education Secretaries (KoSFES) has described the recent Supreme Court judgement on the 2023 governorship election in the state as a victory for more dividends of democracy particularly at the education sector and for infrastructural development in the state rather than victory for the governor and his deputy.
Rising from its emergency meeting held at Blue Bell Hotel, Lokoja yesterday, the Education Secretaries discussed, among other things, how to use the governor’s victory to further take the sub-sector to the next level.
In a press release endorsed by the Forum Chairman, Chief Salihu Usman Adamu and Secretary, Hon Mike Omale made available to our reporter by the Education Secretary, Yagba West LGA who doubles as Director, Media and Strategy, Hon MJ Ogunjobi, the forum members also expressed their gratitude to Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo for prompt payment of counterpart funds to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in order to transform the subsector and payment of 100% salary to the teachers.
Comrade Ogunjobi, who is a former Branch Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Yagba West LGA, posited that the rousing welcome given to the Governor on his arrival from Abuja testified to the verdict of the apex court as reflecting the wishes of the people.
