School Reopening: Kogi STETSCOM Expresses Satisfaction With Compliance

Ahead of resumption of exit classes for final examination in Kogi State, the Executive Chairman of Kogi State Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM), Mrs. Cecilia Cook has expressed satisfaction with the compliance of schools in Lokoja the state capital with the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 guidelines for school resumption.

Mrs. Cook while addressing Newsmen shortly after monitoring the schools, said the enthusiasm displayed by students who turned out impressively was unprecedented and an indication that they are ready for the all important examination. 

“The students were happy to be in school again having being away for a long time now while teachers were as well in high spirit to resume normal school activities,” she said.

Some staff and students, while interacting with the Executive Chairman, expressed the view that the reopening of schools would allow them to embark on intensive revision before the commencement of WAEC Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) starting on August 17.

It was equally noticed that all the schools visited strictly complied with COVID- 19 guidelines as provision of hand washing, sanitizer and other safety devices were put in place.

Bishop Delisle College, Crowther Memorial College and Government Day Secondary School were some of the schools visited.

Meanwhile, in preparation for resumption of students in exit classes, the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has flagged off fumigation of schools today in Lokoja.

The flag off took place at Crowther Memorial College, Lokoja where the fumigation team moved to Bishop Delisle College, Holy Trinity Primary School and Government Science Secondary School all in Lokoja in view of COVID-19 pandemic.

The occasion was witnessed by the Hon. Victor Omofaye, Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Idoko, Chairman House Committee on Education and the host, Hon. Cecilia Cook, the STETSCOM Chairman.

All schools were examinations will be held are expected to be fumigated.
