Another historical landmark was recorded in the history of representative governance in Kogi/ Koto Karfe State Constituency as the newly constructed constituency office edifice situated along Lokoja-Abuja road, Gegu Beki was commissioned.
The building which will serve as link between Honourable Zakari Osewu Muhammad and the people of his constituency would also serve as a service point for enquirers.
In his welcome address, Osewu said that the occasion marked the fulfilment of his statutory responsibility that must be undertaken as a lawmaker representing Kogi/Koto Karfe state constituency and the fulfilment of his promise to be committed and to strive for the service of his constituency.
He reiterated his commitments to the provision of dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people of his constituents.
Osewu said the commissioning of the constituency office is to allow him assert his presence in the constituency. He added that the office willserve as a private and local work-space for him, a service point for enquiries, a meeting place, a genuine protest site and an incubator for new project.
Hon Zakari pointed out that the current empowerment programme embarked upon is meant to relieve the current hardship been face by the masses and assured the people of his constituency that in no distance time he will come up with skill acquisition programme that will cut across all the eleven wards that makes up the constituency.
According to him, the skill acquisition programme would include; photography, tailoring and catering service.
Others skills training are; painting, designing, computer proficiency, fishery and poultry among others.
In his own remarks, chairman of the occasion and member representing Lokoja/ Kogi federal Constituency, Rt. Honourable Umar Buba Jibril, commended the lawmaker for initiating the programme and advised the beneficiaries to utilise the opportunities provided by the lawmaker.
Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Ahmed Umar Imam commended the people of Kogi constituency for their support and assured them of the Assembly’s determination to make laws that will have direct bearings to the lives of ordinary Kogites.
The chief administrator, Kogi Local Government, Barrister Musa Tanko Osuku, in his own contributions praised the state assembly under the leadership of Rt Hon Imam.
“I wish to use this opportunity to commend the state assembly under the leadership of Honourable speaker over their current visits to various hospitals, theseoversight functions by the lawmakers, especially choosing our health sector must be commended”, he said.
