The Ohere Support Group has drawn the curtain on its yearly round-up meeting in grand style, blending fervent prayers, strategic mobilisation, and impactful empowerment outreach across Kogi Central.

Cutting across all 57 wards of the Kogi Central Senatorial District, the group has remained a vibrant grassroots force throughout the year, holding weekly Sunday meetings in their respective wards. These gatherings have consistently served as hubs for prayers, political mobilisation, community bonding, and sustained engagement at the grassroots.

Participants recalled that during his time in the Senate, Senator Abubakar Sadiku Ohere made a clear and deliberate commitment to strengthen the youths’ and women’s structure by appointing 10 ward coordinators in each of the 57 wards. Despite his tenure being cut short by the Appeal Court, Senator Ohere has continued to honour this pledge, a gesture that has further cemented his bond with women, youths, and grassroots supporters across the district.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Senator Ohere Central Working Committee, Hon. Kasheem commended the group for its resilience, loyalty, and unwavering dedication. He described Senator Ohere as “a true man of the people, a leader driven by empathy, inclusiveness, and genuine concern for the welfare of his constituents.”

In her remarks, the women leader and one of the organiser of the programme, Hajiya Aino, reaffirmed the group’s unflinching loyalty to Senator Ohere, while also pledging continued support for the administration of Governor Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo. She paid glowing tribute to the State Supreme Leader, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, acknowledging his leadership, mentorship, and enduring political guidance.

In a bold political declaration, the women unanimously endorsed the call for Senator Abubakar Ohere’s return to the Red Chamber, insisting that the Kogi Central Senate seat remains effectively vacant. They pledged total mobilisation and grassroots support to ensure his victorious comeback.

The group also reaffirmed its total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo, endorsing the continuity of their leadership beyond 2027, while urging stakeholders to reciprocate by backing Senator Ohere’s senatorial aspiration.

The empowerment segment was a major highlight, as several beneficiaries received financial and moral support. Madam Mary from Ogori described the gesture as timely, noting it would help sustain her small business. Mama Onize from Ihima in Okehi LGA expressed gratitude, saying the support renewed her faith in patience and perseverance.

Speaking on behalf of all beneficiaries, Madam Vero from Adavi LGA assured that the funds would be judiciously utilised, thanking the organisers and Senator Ohere for creating opportunities that promote women’s economic and social empowerment.

The meeting ended on a high note of unity, renewed commitment, and optimism, reinforcing the Ohere Support Group’s resolve to remain a formidable grassroots force shaping the political future of Kogi Central.
