“For over four years, the road has been begging for the federal government’s attention, but nothing has been done about it. The bad state of the road has crippled socio-economic activities and commuters and motorists are suffering untold hardship,” he said.

He said the road, which connects the southern and the northern parts of the country, is too important to be ignored.

Also speaking, a truck driver, Muhammed Danfulani, lamented that he spends hours  on the road due to its deplorable state.

A commercial driver, Abubakar Abdul, appealed to government to come to the aid of motorists and commuters by repairing the road.

He said they (drivers) had to increase transportation fare because of the long hours spent on the road.

He lamented that the journey from Okene to Lokoja, which ought to last for 45 minutes is now done in four hours.
