Representative Leke Abejide, Member Representing Yagba Federal Constituency at the National Assembly has charged citizens of Kogi to be committed to building a peaceful, united and prosperous state.
Abejide made the call in a congratulatory message to the government and people of Kogi on the 30th anniversary of the creation of the state on Friday, in Lokoja.
The parliamentarian who is also the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Committee on Customs and Excise, said all hands must be on deck “to see our state move forward and our dreams come to full manifestation.”
He said that the 30-year-old state had witnessed ups and downs as well as waves of tremendous development since its creation on August 27, 1991.
The lawmaker hailed the efforts of the founding fathers and urged that their visions for the creation of the state be pursued vigorously to accomplish more successes.
He noted the sterling contributions of the progressives who led the state to the position of development where it could stand and be rated among its peers.
“All the leaders, since the inception of the state have in one way or the other contributed to the stead of progress and development we have enjoyed and like every other endeavour, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step.
“As Kogites, we must continue to make concerted efforts to see our state move forward and our dreams come to full manifestation.
“Change comes with pains before some fruitful gains, all the challenges our state is facing today can be overcome and constructively tackled through the process of commitment.”
He charged Kogites to shun dissenting voices of division “at this time that we need to stand in brotherhood. We must continue to put the state first on the map of prosperity with enduring legacies.
“As Kogi state clocks 30 years and as we journey through the 30th anniversary of our dear state creation, let us join hands with the government at all levels to move the state to higher heights”, he stated.
