The Chairman, Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh has described Hon. Leke Abejide, Member Representing Yagba Federal Constituency as a promise keeper.
The Chairman made the disclosure after receiving a 20kva Mikano Generator presented by the Lawmaker to the Kogi Council of NUJ in Lokoja on Wednesday 5th August 2022.
The chairman who described the Lawmaker as an exceptional politician who is touching the lives of the people beyond his constituency, urge other well-meaning personalities to emulate his philanthropic gesture.
The Chairman said the gesture by Hon. Abejide has demonstrated his love for the Union, which will go a long way to solving electricity challenges facing the council.
He added that the Lawmaker on his volition redeemed the gift without persuasions and relentless reminders.
Comr. Adeiza described Hon. Leke Abejide as an exceptional lawmaker, who is using his representation to touch lives in positive ways within and outside Kogi State.
He said, by this token, Hon. Abejide has distinguished himself and should be prepared for greater tasks in the coming future.
The NUJ Chairman assured him that the generator will be put to proper use and promised to sustain the partnership for the benefit of the citizenry.
He however called on those with a penchant to renege promises to borrow a leaf from him for the good of their people.
The NUJ Chairman expressed appreciation to Leke Abejide, and appeal to electorates to always identify with politicians who have a genuine interest of their development and wellbeing.
Hon. Abejide who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Shola Adegbola Samuel said the donation was in fulfilment of his promise during a visit to the Council recently.
He described the journalism profession as vital to the promotion of good governance, and sustenance of Democracy.
He expressed delight at the contributions of the media to the growth of democracy, and promise to keep the synergy with the NUJ to deepen democracy at the grassroots.
Abejide assured that he would continue to ensure effective representation of the Constituency, even as he thanked the members of the NUJ for being responsible and responsive in their reportage.
Recall that the Lawmaker had in one of his visits to the NUJ Council Lokoja, early in the year which he was greeted with power outage by AEDC promised to donate a generator to ameliorate their suffering which he has kept his words with today’s presentation.
