Rep Joseph Bello Urge African Leaders to Maximise Population Advantage

Member, House of Representatives (Adavi/Okehi), Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello has called on African governments to take advantage of the continent’s population.

Speaking newsmen at the end of the 42nd Confluence of Speakers for the African Parliamentary Union (APU) in Djibouti.

Bello stated that Africa’s population advantage stands as one of the greatest strengths of the continent.

He urged the African continent to harness her population strength through the provision of enabling environment, stable government policies, youth engagements and running of an all-inclusive government.

He made reference to China as one of the countries succeeding in their aspirations geared towards harnessing her population strength in all ramifications.

Hon. Asuku Bello said the for the dream of a strong and prosperous African continent to become reality, we must rely on the population strength, get it properly managed and harnessed.

Engr. Joseph Asuku Bello was one of the delegates from Nigeria who participated in the 42nd Confluence of Speakers for the African Parliamentary Union (APU) that held at Djibouti City in Djibouti.
African Parliamentary Union (APU) is a conference organized for parliamentary dialogue and action in Africa.

The conference shows its commitment to all important issues with value-adding capacity towards the realization of sustainable development in Africa basically on; security and peace, human rights, democracy, prevention of conflicts, good governance, women participation in democracy, fight against corruption, structural reforms in the economy, population health, civil society, human development, education and science.

Cooperation between the APU, other Regional and International Parliamentary Union forms part of the topmost agenda discussed at the Conference.
