The once dimly lit compound of the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Kabba, now beams with the brilliance of solar powered street lights, courtesy of the Honourable Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke.
The project, facilitated by the respected lawmaker and Chairman, House Committee on Finance, was fully installed to the delight of students, staff, and the host community.
For years, FGGC Kabba, like many educational institutions in semi urban Nigeria, struggled with poor lighting, particularly after dusk. Students often moved around in the dark, raising concerns over safety, security, and general convenience. With the solar powered lights now dotting the school’s landscape, a new era of safety and productivity has dawned.
Parents and teachers hailed the project as timely, especially in an era where insecurity across the country continues to pose challenges. This intervention is not just about lighting; it is about protecting our daughters and ensuring a conducive environment for learning and growth.
Hon. Abiodun Faleke has never hidden his deep ties to his roots in Kogi State. His repeated interventions across the state highlights a political philosophy that places community upliftment above geographical restrictions.
This project further consolidates Faleke’s growing image as a national legislator with a grassroots touch. By choosing to invest in a federal unity school, he demonstrates that leadership in the National Assembly is not merely about constituency projects but also about contributing to the collective development of Nigeria.
Hon. Faleke is not a stranger to projects that directly touch lives. Over the years, he has facilitated numerous initiatives in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. His efforts reflect a consistency in vision, bringing governance closer to the people and addressing the day to day challenges of ordinary Nigerians.
In Lagos, his stewardship of Ikeja Federal Constituency has delivered several community driven projects that speak to his responsiveness. In Kogi, his interventions have been no less impactful, ranging from educational support to infrastructure provisions.
This lighting is essential not only for security but also for extending learning hours. With this facility, students can study in a safer environment and the school can operate more effectively.
The entire Owe community in appreciation sees the project as a gift that keeps giving, emphasizing that it symbolized the lawmaker’s concern for the girl-child and education.
The intervention is symbolic in many ways. the lights represent hope, a commitment to brighten the paths of future leaders, particularly young women in education. Politically, it underscores Hon. Faleke’s stature as a bridge builder: a Lagos legislator with Kogi blood, a national figure who transcends narrow boundaries.
As night falls on Kabba, the once dark corners of FGGC now glow with solar brilliance. For the students, it is more than a project; it is a beacon of safety, comfort, and possibility.
Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, through this intervention, has once again demonstrated that politics can be people-centered, purposeful, and practical. By lighting up FGGC Kabba, he has lit up not just a school but the aspirations of young Nigerians preparing to take on the future.
