Member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide has flagged off the distribution of food items to voters, supporters and widows across Yagba land.

Over 9,000 widows will benefit from this year’s empowerment programme, an increase from the number that benefited last year.

Speaking at the flag-off event, the lawmaker said the distribution of the food items, clothing materials and other items are not just the yearly widows’ empowerment but also for voters and supporters, adding that it should be distributed across all the polling units in Yagba federal constituency.

“The food items are not for widows empowerment alone, voters who supported us during the last House of Representatives and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s elections will benefit. Recall that I campaigned rigorously for the election of President Tinubu.

“The strategic goal of the food distribution is for those who voted and supported us during the last House of Representatives election across the 34 wards in Yagba Federal Constituency to benefit,” he said.

Hon. Leke Abejide assured constituents that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure all items get to intended beneficiaries.

“Those who voted for us during the House of Representatives election should go to their polling units for collection and the widows empowerment as well.

“This year we have over nine thousand widows (9000), we have made food items, clothing materials (six yards of ankara cloth), sugar, salt and gari available to distribute to them as we’ve always been doing.

“To ensure transparency in the implementation of the distribution, we have in place a monitoring team in each axis. Some of the items of Yagba West and Mopamuro and Isanlu axis are in Isanlu to easy transportation.

“Further to this, the distribution has been segmented into the major axis in Yagba with the dates for distribution and leaders that will handle the process.”

Hon. Abejide said he will continue to do everything within his capacity to initiate programs and projects that will uplift the people of Yagba land.
