This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by Dr. Felix Ale, a prominent communication expert and Director of Media and Corporate Communication at the National Space Research and Development Agency of Nigeria.
The news of his death has sent shockwaves through his family, the Ekinmogun community, Ondo State, and Nigeria at large.
Chief Akinpelumi, a man of profound influence in both education and local government administration, died recently, leaving behind a legacy of service, integrity, and dedication to his community.
Chief Akinpelumi served as the Executive Chairman of the Ondo West Local Government Council between 2003 and 2007.
His contributions in education, particularly in the field of mathematics, have left an indelible mark on the lives of many students across the country.
Dr. Ale described the loss as “great” for both his family and the wider community.
Ale, who is also the son-in-law of the late Chief Akinpelumi, praised him for living an exemplary life, adding, “He was indeed a beacon of knowledge, a guiding light in education, a very distinguished community leader, an eminent Nigerian, and a stalwart of integrity in politics.”
Ale further recalled Chief Akinpelumi’s deep passion for learning, especially in mathematics, noting that his brilliance went beyond his academic achievements.
“His brilliance in this rare discipline was not just confined to his academic achievements at the graduate and post-graduate levels but was generously shared with countless students across the country,” he said.
As an educationist, Chief Akinpelumi was more than just a teacher. He was a mentor and a role model. Ale emphasized that the schools where Chief Akinpelumi served as Principal were not only places of learning but also communities where students were inspired to reach their highest potential.
“His passion was contagious and his students flourished under his tutelage,” Ale noted.
In addition to his work in education, Chief Akinpelumi was a distinguished politician.
As Executive Chairman of Ondo West Local Government, he championed causes that deeply affected his community.
Ale described him as “a voice for the voiceless” and highlighted his commitment to public service, stating, “His achievements in Ondo West local government and local government administration in Nigeria remain legendary and a reference point while his legacy in politics is one of honesty, compassion, and firm commitment to the public good.”
