The Personal Assistant to Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State, Unekwuojo Sule, has expressed full-confidence that the state-sponsored male club, Kogi United will remain in the Nigeria National League next season against fears of relegation.
Unekwuojo Sule gave the assurance after watching the club played JUTH FC of Jos in the week-twenty-eight game which ended 2:1 in favour of Kogi United at the ultra-modern Confluence Stadium on Saturday.
He assured Kogi sports-loving indigenes and supporters that the government will not rest on it oars on encouraging sports development in the state, stressing that his administration places on high premium the empowerment of youths through sports.
Unekwuojo noted that the government will set out machinery to ensure the state darling team remains in the second tier league with vision of securing a promotion ticket to the Nigeria league topflight next season.
He added that the government is keenly attracted to seeing sports grow in the state, stressing that talents discovery and youths engagement will reduce unemployment and crime rate in the state.
Meanwhile goals from Sanusi Pedro and Tony Wilson who with his 13th goal of the season gave Kogi United fight against relegation a vital boost against Juth FC of Jos to garner 31 points from 26 matches.
The Kogi state sponsored Nigeria second division side will secure it stay in the Nigeria National League if they could ensure a victory in their rescheduled home match against FC Taraba later in the month.
