By the conventional definition of democracy, it is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Hence, in a full fledged democratic practice, it is expected that the dividends of democracy is not inimical to the sustenance of the same practice.
It is a smear campaign taken too far and a clear disconnect to sum up our ideas and ideals, through a crude description of Kogi East senator, Atai Aidoko Ali as a “seasonal politician” or “yahoo, yahoo” as the case may be to soothe their yearnings and aspirations.
For a ranking senator of the Nigerian senate to be labelled at such, it is a clear indication that the name callers are bereft of sane practice and lacked best practices in their disposition.
We thank the political class for the record made available by perceived opponents over the senator’s gesture of providing mobility through the donation of high class Toyota Camry cars to party leaders, aside paying salaries of party echelon and provision of running cost to the party at the ward, local government and state levels.
Senator Atai Aidoko Ali’s template of ideas was reminiscent of how the credible second republic politicians in the likes of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe, Mallam Aminu Kano, Former President Shehu Shagari, Dr Tunji Braithwaite, ran a democratic experience that was devoid of pilfering of public funds, that Nigeria was better for it during the 18th century of second republic.
The senator whose general believe was without infrastructural and social services provision to the eastern senatorial district to his credit, had explored all avenues through bringing government presence to the rural areas by providing boreholes, transformers, hospitals and clinics, skill acquisition centres and empowerment to the people of the area. The kind of politics the current aspirants will never concede to the people.
Politics is not all about giving out job to the people under the pretext reducing the unemployment rate, yet denying the same people of their better halves through extra marital affairs. The records are there for everybody to view.
Aidoko believes in the true Igala project without reservations, pretense or connivance to address the myriads of our social, political and economic advancement of the people of Kogi East.
The senator is determined to give back to the society what is due for them inline with his humanitarian tendencies and disposition. Therefore, it is pertinent for the Igala/Bassa race to rally round him, not minding the gang up to advance the cause of our development in all ramifications.
