It is only a government that lacks conceptual integrity that will not pay salary as and when due, using a screening exercise that was carried out by inexperience personalities as an excuse.
Common wisdom has it and advocated that a worker must be paid for his/ her stewardship according to the contract of employment. Anything outside this is an abeyance of contract.
Where are the trade unions, human rights organizations, Nigeria Labour congress, NUT, Kogi state house of Assembly and other powerful organizations. Are you alive ? Are you comfortable with the way workers are being maltreated in the kogi state? You need to be assertive and proactive now. Where are the advisers to the governor? Are you just a cosmetic advisers? I think there is an abuse of position somewhere.
None payments of salary for 11 months is equal to genocide and this needs to be addressed immediately. The anxieties created by the so called screening team is becoming intolerable. Premature death, parents can not afford to pay for the kids school fees, feeding and health become tougher. When does cashing money in London while working in kogi become an offense? Why did you allow a personnel to work with improper documentation? Since you have allowed them to work for years without proper documentation, it means the conditions were acceptable to you and that is why you allowed them to work with this status for those years and therefore, you must have to pay for this and then set a standard to check mate them subsequently. But there is no law backing you to cease employees salary because of poor documentation or workers drawing outside their area of assignments.
Yahaya Bello, the outcome of your screening committees exercise is counterintuitive cum counterproductive and they are very far from the specifications and expectations. You need to embark on a value laden decision making that will correct these mess with immediate effect.
In your government, it seems you are not in charge. It is a case of class mates playing with power. It is a case of leaders leading leaders. Your government has taken our state miles backwards and you need a high level thinking to be able to bring it back on track.Put yourself in the shoes of these workers in order to get feelings of the suffering workers. A senior officer is not being paid for 11 months? It is a Gehenna, anarchy and calamity.
Mr Governor, kindly take a second- guess, rehash and review your strategy and come to the aides of the suffering workers at least by paying them their entitlement. Reinvigorate your genuine desire to help, take up your responsibilities and authorities from your failed aides and do the needful before it gets out of control. The power some of the sycophants around you, see and do things for yourself. Decentralized your delegation from just your chief of staff. Empower your commissioners and give them audience for the necessary feed back.
Do not put your eggs in one basket let alone a tattered basket. Your style of leadership does not have a foundation or reference point.use your brain power to get the state out of this persistence conundrum. Take a desirable step and if possible get a competent consultant to help you out.
Do not use power to oppress the masses in a democratic setting. Our system of government is tenural and therefore it has a lapsing period. Do not play fools in the hands of your friends. None of them will be there to defend you on the day of accountability both in this world and hereafter.
Yahaya Bello, the exact message here is that you should pay your workers immediately. Though there could be ghost workers who are not visible but are on papers. These are the real ghost workers. There is no free lunch anywhere especially in this time of change but pay genuine workers.
Thank you all.
May God Almighty guides the governor to dispense his stewardship according to the interest of the masses. A Governor is our Servant and we must be satisfy with his services, otherwise we shall put your name in our black books. May God forbid.
