Kogi state government has reiterated its resolve to make all roads in the state accessible for motorists and pedestrians.
The state Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, made this known while inspecting ongoing reconstruction of Kpata-Paparanda Square road in Lokoja on Saturday.
He noted with pleasure that the reconstruction work is progressing at appreciable level.
The commissioner stated that Governor Bello was propelled to rehabilitate and reconstruct roads across the state by his love and concern for the people of the state.
“Permit me to reiterate the resolve of this administration to make roads in all parts of the state accessible as enshrined under the infrastructure development pillar of the cardinal points of this administration.
“In our quest to restore Kogi values, the government has continued to pursue lofty goals even in the face of daunting challenges. We are not allowing paucity of funds to deter us in the execution of our programmes,” he said.
Ohere appealed to road users to bear the discomfort being experienced everyday as a result of blockages and diversions, pointing out that it was a necessary action in a construction work of such magnitude.
He pointed out that while some sections of the road are also at different levels of completion, remedial work are being carried out on the sections that are critically bad to facilitate ease of passage for motorists.
He added that the road will enhance the socio-economic development of the people.
Ohere advised the contractors handling the project to ensure strict adherence to specifications with a view to delivering high quality, durable and serviceable roads within the stipulated time.
