Recently, I wrote an open letter to Alh. Muritala Yakubu Ajaka the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the November 2023 governorship election in Kogi state urging him to embrace peace and reconcile with the leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the interest of and progress of our state and the party.

My message was borne out of my strong conviction that the tribunal verdict was based on evidence before the court and not sentiments or emotions.

Besides, I have much respect for Alh. Muritala Ajaka as a person and leader in his own right.

I am surprised none of his followers could stand up to tell him the truth. On the contrary, I see no where we should be panic if he chooses to appeal the judgement, why? What for?. I am always in court during hearing and I am well acquainted with the entire court processes leading to the judgement.

So, my request for peace and reconciliation was never born in out of fear that the appealate courts could rule otherwise.

I am just being concerned as a kogite, a member of the party and a public officer that mean well for his people.

Though, the opened letter generated mix feelings in the public domain, the fact still remain, unity of purpose remain the only antidote that would propel us to a greater heights.

His Excellency, Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo re-echoed similar opinion while reacting to the tribunal judgement in Lokoja where he extended olive branch to his fellow contestants.

He appealed to the aggrieved opponents to join hands with him to move the state forward. It is on this premise, I choose to add my voice to the message of peace. I mean no harm.

However, some persons choosed to use the opportunity to spite the former governor, His Excellency, Alh Yahaya Bello with negative comments, therefore, abandoning the main subject of discuss. Personally, I have strong believe leaders are ordained by God.

His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello didn’t made himself a leader but his leadership was design by God Almighty. Therefore, I advise everyone to desist from these negative comments against the person of His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello who in true sense has done tremendously well for the state as no one truly understand his relationship with God.

Regardless of what the nay sayers may feel, I wish to reaffirm my earlier position as contained in the open letter that at this juncture, there is need to put the existing political differences aside and fudge ahead for the benefits of the people, our part (APC) and the state at large.
