I found amusing the crooked parochial narration of my son, Jesse Abayomi Oloke, on the agitation for political rotation in Yagba land.
What makes it so is his ignorant references to Bible verses to support his unbalanced theory of the agitation wolfish cry of some deluded political elements in Yagba land.
He is not well informed or because of some yet to be revealed reasons, fails to agree that at no time in history has there been any formal agreement on rotation in Yagba land.
Let me take him down memory lane by telling him emphatically that in the past late Pa Awoniyi was the defacto political leader of Yagba land, and he was the final authority on who gets what in the political space of Yagba.
It will interest him to know that Mopamuro has produced two Senators in person’s of late Pa Awoniyi and Daniyan.
Furthermore, Yagba West is still in custody of the Senate seat.
And to make this agitation for rotation cumbersome is the fact that for the two times that Deputy Governor was given to Okun land, Mopamuro sons were the beneficiaries – in the persons of Chief Sam Akande and Chief Yomi Awoniyi.
Prior to 1999, they “Mopamuro” were the one’s enjoying political largesse in the entire Okun Nation as late Pa Awoniyi was the defacto political Leader.
Yagba East have only been beneficiaries of elective political office twice. when their sons Faniyi and Aro got elected as member, House of Representatives, and all this while Mopamuro sons were contesting against them.
So when did this sudden agitation for rotation erupt , and who were the signatories to the rotation arrangement?
Yagba East have only been fortunate beneficiaries of elective political office when the ” POWER ” and influence of political godfathers waned, and the people had a say in who represents them and that began when Leke Abejide threw his hat, into the political ring, and the electorates voted massively for him as a result of his antecedent of philanthropic initiatives.
No single elective political office holder in Okun land has or is performing like this great political ambassador of not only Yagba land, but the entire Okun Nation in terms of delivery of dividends of democracy.
One other thing I told my son (Jesse) is that while we agree that there is freedom of speech, there is no freedom after of speech as any speech you make will elicit responses that will no longer guarantee “FREEDOM” just as I believe, I will not be the only person reacting to Jesse’s narrative.
If there has to be any rotation arrangement now it has to be after the next general elections, and Yagba East should be the “FIRST” beneficiary as they have been the most “MARGINALIZED” politically in Yagba land.
There has been no time that Mopamuro sons have not come out to contest for House of Representative seat. It shocks me that they are now clamouring for rotation.
If truly there has ever been agreement for rotation then they have consistently violated that agreement.
Why will they now want another person to obey an agreement that exists only in their WILDEST IMAGINATION now that they realize that they can not win the Mandate of the Masses, since the Masses have found a “political Messiah” that they are not ready to trade for anything in the world.
I will advise my Son Jesse to mind his utterances as I have once advised him not to bite the finger that once fed him on the altar of ill motivated ego or induced behind the scene political forces as his frivolous claims that Leke Abejide collected money from FGYB, and now Ododo, is a claim that can not be substantiated.
On a final note, I will advise the proponents of rotation to wait till after Leke Abejide has won his third term ticket, then we can come together and form a central planning committee that will put in place a detailed rotation arrangement, and Yagba East should be allowed to be the FIRST beneficiary of any ROTATION ARRANGEMENT that will be put in place since it is the headquarters of Yagba land.
