Kogi State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Bolanle Amupitan on Tuesday did a follow up launch of Community Assistance and Relief (CARES) Foundation in Mopa City Hall, Mopamuro.
The Foundation which is the brain child of Amupita set Mopamuro and it’s environs aglow with education materials support, empowerment of trained rural women and commissioning of boreholes.
The education materials distributed includes; school bags, writing materials, school uniforms and kits.
Wife of the Governor, Hajia Rashida Bello supported the foundation with cash donations. She gave out N20,000 each to the 30 trained women; 10 from each local government areas of Yagba Federal constituency.
Two boreholes which were constructed in Okeguru and Adogbe communities were also commissioned by the Governor’s Wife. Two power generating sets were also donated to power the boreholes.
The Commissioner, while delivering her speech, said the foundation was established in December, 2016 with the cardinal aim of providing financial, material and moral aids to the less privileged, people living with disabilities, children and the active poor in the communities.
Ampitan said in time past, the foundation has sponsored programmes for the people’s benefit and part of which were medical outreach to about 234 persons, payment of school/WAEC fees for students to return to school, distribution of sewing machines, hair driers, grinding machines, generator/barbing clipper and stipends to petty traders to support their businesses.
She also called the attention of the public to assist an elderly woman whose house was destroyed by rain. She said CARES Foundation is presently working on building another shelter for the aged woman.
The Commissioner appreciates everyone who attended the program and Aids HealthCare Foundation (AHF) who has been giving selfless services to those living with HIV/AIDS to live healthier and longer, led by Onile Folusho.
Earlier, the Governor’s Wife during the commissioning of boreholes and distribution of materials to about 45 pupils, congratulated the Commissioner and admonished the beneficiaries to use the items and facilities for their personal development and growth of the communities.
Hon. Kenechi Ajayi, who also contributed immensely to the success of the programme, congratulated the women and charged them to be independent and self sufficient.
