Ramadan: Doyin & Suzan Foundation Distributes Foodstuffs to 210 Persons in Kogi

An NGO, Doyin & Suzan Foundation, has distributed food stuffs to 210 people in Kotonkarfe and Lokoja Local Government Areas of Kogi to fecilitate with Muslim faithful in the month of Ramadan.

The Chairperson, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the foundation, Mrs Adedoyin Ibikunle, told journalists while distributing the items on Sunday in Lokoja, that the gesture was to reach out to the less privileged during Ramadan.

“We gave out foodstuffs to 110 women and men in Kotonkarfe on Friday across the 11 wards in the council, and today we are in Lokoja distributing foodstuffs to additional 100 people across 10 wards.

“We have also on Feb. 4, donated relief items and foodstuffs to 300 widows in Ijumu and Kabba/Bunu Local Government Areas of the state”, she said.

Ibikunle, who is a senatorial aspirant in Kogi West under APC, added that she had on Dec 23, 2017, distributed relief items including food stuff worth N12 million to about 2,000 widows in Yagba Federal Constituency.

The senatorial aspirant said that the gesture had cut across the seven local government areas in Kogi West.

Ibikunle added that the foundation had also in April embarked on free medical treatment for the vulnerable people in collaboration with its US partners.

“It is my humble belief that this gesture will mark a turning point in the life of our widows and bring succor to them through empowerment and various skills acquisition programmes,” she said.

She, however urged the people to give her the necessary support to ensure that she get the senatorial ticket for Kogi West during the APC primary election.

“Let us use our power to choose a woman to represent us in the Senate in 2019, the women have been marginalized at the national level. I promised not to disappoint you”, she said.

She promised to give grant to people who are interested in farming and to start small and medium businesses to make them self-reliant, saying they should register their names for accessibility.

Mohammed Nda, APC Publicity Secretary in Lokoja, commended Ibikunle for the gesture and assured her of their total support both at the primary and general elections

Mrs Adisa Abubakar, Lokoja Ward A Women Leader, also appreciated the foundation for the gesture and promised their total support of women for her political ambition.

“We are very happy seeing a woman like us coming out for the first time in the state to contest for national elective position, we are proud of you and are solidly behind you”, Abubakar said.
