The member representing Ankpa 2 constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Alh. Alfa Momoh has assures of the passage of the relevant Sections of the proposed amendment of the Nigeria’s constitution to ensure all tiers of government in the country operate to achieve accountability, probity and transparency in governance for the benefit of the masses.
The honorable member stated this during an interface with officials of the Citizens Coalition for Good Governance paid when they him an advocacy visit on the proposed constitution amendment that has herald the nation. The hosting honorable stressed the need for the strong building of democratic Institutions with the current federation allocation formulae so as to increase resources due to the various states and local government levels.
Hon Rabiu further seek for greater collaboration and necessary synergy to empower democratic Institutions like the legislature and the judiciary through adequate financial independence to carry out their statutory functions to ensure the discharge of their statutory functions in other to deepen and consolidate on democratic base practices.
In his opening remarks, the delegation team leader Mr Jacob Sani informed the lawmaker that the coalition is aimed at instilling the best democratic practices obtainable in other democratic societies into leaders and hence the essence of the visitation adding that the group’s membership cut across all shares of life.
Another speaker, Comr Joyce Simon highlighted the need for such amendments as local Government autonomy, Reform of the Judiciary, Legislative Budget Implementation and Independent candidacy as earmarked for the proposed Constitution amendment to be of great significance if ratified by the various states house of assemblies.
Highlight of the event was a presentation of the coalition brochure to the honorable who in his usual way of magnanimity made a discretional donation to the coalition as his own goodwill to the objectives of the coalition which he described as very commendable.
