A pressure group, Say No to Violence in Ebiraland (SNTVE), has described the purported plan to organize a recall process against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, as a brazen attempt to destabilize the Senator and undermine the mandate of the Kogi Central people.
The group’s spokesperson, Hon. Abdulrazak Mamman, in a press statement on Tuesday in Lokoja, said the attempt was being ‘orchestrated by failed, power-besotted individuals with questionable character and antecedents’.
The group reaffimed that the people of Kogi Central, had spoken loud and clear by electing Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to represent them in the last general election, and vowed to vehemently resist any attempt to steal their mandate through the backdoor.
“We are aware of a sinister plan to organize a recall process against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the distinguished Senator representing the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District.
“This attempt, orchestrated by failed, shameless, power-besotted individuals with questionable character and antecedents, is a brazen attempt to destabilize the Senator and undermine the mandate of the Kogi Central People.
“It is atrocious that at a time when Kogi Central is lucky to have a dependable representative in the person of Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, who has never relented in making us proud since her assumption at the National Assembly.
“These individuals are making frantic efforts to jeopardize her efforts; perhaps, because they are threatened by her rising political profile.
“We understand that money has exchanged hands between the enemies in the National Assembly and the orchestrators of this recall process, but we assure them that this shameful attempt will end in failure, just as their previous attempt against former Senator Dino Melaye did.
“We shall vehemently oppose any attempt to steal the mandate of Kogi Central people through the backdoor.
“The people of Kogi Central have spoken loud and clear by electing Senator Natasha Uduaghan to represent them in the last general election, and we will not stand idly by while some individuals attempt to subvert their will.
“It is quite shameful that people who couldn’t defeat Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan in an election poll now thinks they can actualize her recall through the backdoor.
“We are putting this out not out of fear of such a possibility but just so the orchestrators are aware that we are miles ahead of them.
“It is only a madman who repeats the same act every year and expects a different result,” Mamman said.
According to him, the political madness ought to have stopped with the last attempt with former Senator Dino Melaye.
He added: “But in case they have refused to learn from their past mistakes, we shall be here to remind them.
“We call on these agents of doom behind this shameful attempt to channel their energy towards the progress of our dear state and invest state resources in improving the lives of Kogi State citizens, instead of engaging in a failed mission that is dead on arrival”.
