The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is intact, a chieftain of the party, Dr. Tom Ohikere, has said.

Ohikere said that APC was not factionalised as claimed in some quarters, but only undergoing a minor crisis.

The APC chieftain, who spoke during a chat with journalists yesterday in Lokoja, the state capital, said that the national leaders of the party would soon wade into the crisis for resolution.

Ohikere said: “There is bound to be misbehaviour, lawlessness, breaking of rules and non-compliance with regulations at the inception of a party like this.”

The former Commissioner for Information, who was reacting to the composition of APC interim local government committee by some members, said that such action ought to have taken place at the state secretariat of the party.

He, however, claimed that the national secretariat of APC was not aware of the development, stressing that the party had gone beyond the composition of interim committee as it is already working toward the ward, local and state congresses which will soon take place across the country.

Ohikere noted that by rules, former Governor Abubarka Audu is the leader of the party in the state.

He said former governor had been the symbol of opposition since when he was elected into office on the platform of the defunct All Nigeria People Party (ANPP) and the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

Ohikere said: “Prince Abubarka Audu is the only one that has the clout and charisma to lead APC in Kogi State.”
