PRESS RELEASE BY KOGI TEAM BUILDERS
Our attention has been drawn to the tirades directed at the Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Ichala Wada by an APC Governorship aspirant, Air Vice Marshall Salihu Atawodi during a reception for the latter by the Igala APC in Abuja yesterday.
We wish to underscore the fact that we used to hold Atawodi in high esteem until he decided to be blindfolded by inordinate political ambitions. Describing our governor as “incompetent, unprepared and corrupt” amount to recklessness and unbecoming of a man who is aspiring to assume the seat presently occupied by the respected Gov. Idris Wada.
It is unfortunate that APC leaders have continued to label Gov. Wada’s administration when the leader of the opposition party in Kogi State is standing trials over corruption charges. It must also be on record that the Joint Allocation Account has helped to develop infrastructures in the Local Government Areas.
For someone to desecrate the seat he is aspiring to occupy is one of the reasons we have been calling on political leaders in the state to avoid statements that are capable of heightening political temperatures in the state. As leaders, we have to show the people we are aspiring to lead that we are responsible and not trying to bring down the roof of the state with irresponsible statements.
As far as Kogi Team Builders is concerned, the present administration has zero tolerance for corruption and is also committed to better the lots of the Kogi State people. We also call on the political leaders to stop playing politics of ethnicity and borrow a leaf from the present administration that has been fair to all Kogites.
We urge AVM Atawodi (rtd) to situate his ambition within a Kogi State that is united and not turn himself to an ethnic chauvinist who can’t see beyond his ethnic nose. He should stop ruminating on the humiliating defeat he suffered during the 2011 governorship election in PDP and join hand with the present administration to take Kogi State to greater heights.
Thanks and God bless you all.
Signed
John Babatunde F.
