Senator representing Kogi East, Atai Aidoko Ali has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will emerge victorious in general elections despite the shocking postponement.

Aidoko made this known on Saturday in his Ugbamaka country home while addressing supporters who trooped to his residence to show solidarity.

He assured his supporters that victory is certain anytime the election exercise is conducted.

According to senator Aidoko, the level of awareness and orientation of the people of Kogi East on the 2019 elections is high. He commended the people for heeding to the clarion call to bailout the entire Igala race once and for all.

Senator Aidoko debunked reports credited to Air Marshal Isaac Alfa (rtd) that his name has been removed from INEC list of candidates contesting the Kogi East senatorial election. He noted that the statement is far from the truth.

He urged the people to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner but resist any attempt to shortchange the area through election malpractices, manipulation of results and violence to hijack the victory of the people over minions. He urged them to vote PDP.

“We are not unaware of the plans of the state government and APC to torment the voters using all means possible to deny the area of our desire.

“Yesterday, during our stakeholders meeting in the residence of our former governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, we were ambushed by hired security agents to unleash violence on the party members, with party candidates as targets.

“They blocked our way out and shot sporadically to kill some of us, particularly senator Dino Melaye, Senator Ogembe Ahmed, my self and Benjamin Ikani.

“This act of lawlessness was carried out by the police authorities at the seat of government in Lokoja amidst provocation without response from the official circle. This is an indication of a premeditated and preplanned arrangement between the police hierarchy and Kogi government.

“You are likely to be confronted by such situation, but wherever it did not affect your desire to exercise your franchise, disregard them and go ahead to vote them out so as to secure victory for the party,” he said.

Senator Aidoko said the postponement of the election at this crucial time is an indictment  on the part of INEC and the government who had already known the people’s position against them.

He advised the supporters to remain resolute so as to cast their votes for PDP in the postponed day of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
