The House of Assembly candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Okene II constituency, Hon. Sanni Salau Ogembe has appealed to the people of Kogi State to shun violence and embrace peace before, during and after the forth coming election.
Ogembe made the appeal while addressing a group of supporters in Okene on Sunday.
He tasked the people to shun political violence and embrace peace.
“Kogi central needs ballot papers and boxes, not bullets, guns and machetes during the election period.
“Let the electorate vote the people’s choice freely without undue interference. Let the thumbs of the masses justify the winner, not the heavyweight of thuggery.
“Let people vote in the candidate they believe, trust and have tested. Politics should be a race for development not destruction,” he said.
He called on the people of Kogi Central to embrace peace and avoid the resurgence of political unrest as witnessed in the area in 2007.
He appealed to the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, HRM Alh. Ado Ibrahim to call all the political parties and their representatives in Kogi Central to show interest in the welfare and peace of Ebira kingdom.
“If truly they are for the progress of the land, they should stop blood shedding, preach love and practice the politics of brotherliness.
“A constituency can only achieve its political aims and goals though peaceful processes and voting a credible candidate, while violence will only bring setback and destruction,” he said.
He also appealed to the people of Kogi central and Okene II constituency to vote wisely and protect their votes for the interest of the future of Ebira kingdom.
