Four serving Naval officers deployed to work with a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state, Commodore Folusho Daniel (rtd), during the rescheduled general elections have been arrested.

In a press released signed by the Director General, Media and Publicity to Kogi State Governor, Kingsley Fanwo, the Naval officers were illegally deployed to work with the PDP chieftain.

Fanwo alleged that the Naval officers terrorized members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during last week botched elections.

“The Kogi State Government wishes to make public, the arrest of four Naval Officers who were fully armed with AK 47 and illegally deployed to work with a PDP Chieftain in Mopamuro LGA of Kogi State, Commodore Michael Folusho Daniel (Rtd) and other PDP leaders in the Local Government Area.

“The arrest was effected by Officers and Men of the Operation Total Freedom who were alerted by members of the public who witnessed how the same Naval personnel terrorized members of the All Progressives Congress last week as they wrecked havoc on many homes and were shooting sporadically to disrupt the elections.

“Luck ran out of the Naval Personnel as they were apprehended before they could escape.

“As a Government, we have great confidence in the military authorities to get to the root of the matter and ensure those behind the unfortunate act were brought to book.

“We also implore security agencies to ensure other thugs kept in the homes of PDP leaders in the State are arrested before the commencement of the polls on Saturday.

“The State Government will ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the elections to be free, fair and credible polls in line with the promise of Mr President,” he said.

Fanwo stated that the arrest has confirmed Kogi APC’s position that the PDP is only interested in winning the elections through violence and corrupting of public institutions.
