The free fall of the fortunes of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has continued unabated as scores of its members defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) In Ogori Magongo local government area of Kogi central senatorial district in Kogi state.
Ahead of the the 2024 Kogi state congress, the PDP has continued to witness gale of defection by its members and critical stakeholders across the state.
Yesterday, prominent members and critical stakeholders of the PDP in Ogori Magongo have all defected to the APC citing irresponsible and suppressive leadership of the PDP in Ogori Magongo and Kogi central at large.
Amongst the defectors are former secretary of the party; Hon. Awe David, Hon Tito Asoye, and a political heavy weight grassroot mobilizer, Hon Roland Omoshoro and their supporters in their numbers.
The Woman leader of Ileteju ward and an age long PDP women mobilizer, Hon Mary Abraham and Mr Adebayo from Eni ward also followed in the trend of defection to the ruling APC.
A concerned PDP member who spoke on the condition of anonymity lamented the gale of defection and attributed it to the poor leadership of the party in the state.
“It is sad that the PDP is now a personal property of some highly placed individuals who benefited greatly from the popularity and structure of the PDP. Party members are now treated like beggars and intruders,” the supporter said.
