As usual like football matches when the gods of politics is not in your favor you are left with nothing but blabbing. It’s still fresh in our memory how various political parties has imposed and still imposing their interested candidate on the poor masses and nothing seems to be wrong with their decision. The imposer keep shouting EUREKA while the disposer mostly seek redress either through the competent court of jurisdiction or through political alienation.
The following people suffered the same fate of imposition in the past and their pathetic stories are still on our mind.
Architect Gabriel Yakubu Aduku was to represent the people of Dekina/Bassa at the green chamber but his aspirations could not see the light of the day as he was shortchange for another candidate with party endorsement.
Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho flagged off the party flag as governorship aspirant for Kogi State but the power that be with party decision wave his aspirations for another candidate.
Also a pro Obasanjo third term agenda was imposed against all the senatorial aspirants in Kogi East.
Air Marshal Sen Isaac Mohammed Alfa also had bitter experience in his bid to represent the people of Kogi East at the National Assembly.
Recently, one Mr Daniel Oné Ejigbo was to represent Dekina/Bassa at the Federal House of Representative but was replaced by the party interest.
In the same vain, Hon Hassan Baiwa Abdullahi was played out at the primary ground for a party candidate to represent the people of Okura Constituency until he swap to another party.
The problem of imposition of candidate is common to all political parties as far as I know. The only way out of this political menace is to avoid the ATM kind of politics that we all indulged ourselves and any aspirants that feel he is more popular and on grand should approach another party to prove a point or better still you can also act as an opposition within the party by plotting for their failure during the general election, it’s all part of political gimmicks.
Though perseverance is very important, any aspirants that was shortchange can as well try it again and again some other time, if lucky and destined he/she might make it one day but the most important of all is that politics is truly a comic game do not start your aspirations and support with vituperate against one another because nobody knew the packaging of tomorrow.
I sympathy goes to all those afflicted with political trauma not only for the money spent but also for their time and actions during the processes, may He rekindle your hope and aspirations.
