Dateline was Friday June 18th, 2021. The sleeping town of Ayede-Bunu in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Kogi State became a beehive of activities during the thanksgivings service of the Olueso of Aherin, Oba Samuel Sunday Tolorunse which held at Emmanuel Anglican Church.
In his homily, Bishop of Kabba Anglican Diocese, Rt Rev’d Dr Steven Kayode Akobe, said Oba Samuel Tolorunse was a humble, gentle and a peaceful man who made useful contributions during church meetings.
Akobe prayed that his good disposition and legacies he left behind would be emulated by his children and humanity.
Reading from the book of Luke 16:19, he called on the rich to endeavor to help the poor, just as urged everyone to prepare for death which is inevitable.
Also speaking, Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon Wemi Jones described the deceased royal father as a scholar of note and educationist of repute who toiled to positively influence the entire society where he lived.
He said the generosity of Oba Tolorunse had no limit, adding that the entire human race would miss his good reign and service to humanity.
His eldest son, Prince Dr Joseph Ademola Tolorunse said his father lived an exemplary life which was his source of inspiration and a moulder for good way of life, adding that his forgiven spirit, selflessness, accommodating spirit, among others were his unparalleled attributes.
According to him, when the royal father was a teacher, he mentored many children who were not even his biologically and provided their educational needs.
He expressed joy in the good legacies and virtues which he left behind for them.
Also, the eldest daughter of the family, Princess Magaret Olorumdajo said she would not forget her father’s friendship to all, adding that there was unity among all the children.
The reception for guests held on the community primary school’s field was carnival like as different groups and members of the Oke meta heritage took time to dance.
Oba Tolorunse was 83 at death. He is survived by children, grand children, wives and relatives.
