The Divisional Police Officer in Isanlu, Kogi State, has issued a warning to churches in Yagba East Local Government Area about a planned attack by criminal elements.
The DPO of Isanlu, CSP Kanwai James, gave the warning on Thursday in a letter he addressed to the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Isanlu, Yagba East LGA, Kogi State.
According to him, credible intelligence reports reveal that attackers have concluded plans to launch a deadly assault on churches in the area.
James, who confirmed the letter to newsmen said, “in light of the intelligence report, the police are urging Churches to intensify security measures to prevent any potential attacks”.
He advised Churches to be vigilant and security-conscious, with internal security personnel such as the Boys Brigade planted within church premises during services.
“Additionally, all night programs or activities should be suspended or limited until further notice,’ he stated.

James noted that the Nigeria Police, DSS, NSCDC, Vigilante, and Hunters were working together with the Local Government, Traditional Council, and IPU Chairman to provide mobility and intensify patrols during Sunday services.
James solicited the support of the public in providing useful intelligence information to help combat crime and criminality in Yagba East LGA.
The DPO assured the public that the police were taking all necessary measures to prevent any potential attacks and ensure the safety of worshippers.
He also advised Church members to remain calm but vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
James pledged the police commitment to providing updates as necessary and to work tirelessly to keep the community safe.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kogi State Command, SP William Ovye has not reacted to this latest kidnap.
