The Kogi State Police Command has distanced itself from media reports alleging it disagreed with the State Government over the widely reported rape case involving a 3 year old girl in Lokoja.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP William Ovye Aya in Lokoja on Friday, the Police said the report was nothing but the figment of the imagination of the author, insisting that there was no disagreement whatsoever between the Police and Kogi Government.

SP Aya said the Command enjoys a harmonious working relationship with the Ministry of Women Affairs in the fight against gender based violence in the state.

“We are partners and collaborators,” he said.

The Police spokesman said the Command will continue to work with the Ministry of Women Affairs as well as the Ministry of Justice to ensure effective prosecution of gender based violence cases in the state.
