Police Confirms Arrest of Suspect in Murder of Mother of 5 in Kogi

The Nigerian Police Force have confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the murder of a housewife identified as Mrs Rose Eneojoh in Kogi State.

Rose, a mother of five, was killed by unknown gunmen suspected to be assassins drove to  the woman’s residential house around 8 pm on Wednesday and shot her in the presence of her husband and five children at Etikpolo Anyigba, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Ovye Aya, confirmed on Thursday night that one Muazu Muhammed has been arrested in connection with the crime.

“I called the Divisional Police Officer in the area, and he confirmed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the woman’s death.

“She was attacked, and someone went to the station to report. The prime suspect, Muazu Muhammed, has been arrested, and the matter has been transferred to Lokoja for further investigation,” he added.

According to the locals, the gunmen said to be three in number drove into her compound furiously, identified her and shot her after disclosing their mission.

The victim, a mother of five, was reportedly targeted by her assailants, who said they were paid to kill her.

“This innocent woman, Mrs. Rose Eneojoh—wife to my brother-in-law—was gruesomely murdered last night at Etikpolo Anyigba. The killers told her and her husband that they were paid 200,000 Naira to assassinate her.

“She offered them more money in exchange for her life; they took the money from them and still went ahead to shoot her, leaving the husband and 5 young children in misery. How long should this continue in Igala land?,” a family member, Charles Umoru, said in a post on social media.
