The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has brokered peace between Itale and Ishi communities of Ibaji LGA to resolve a lingering dispute over a fishing pond and land.
The Police Chief convened a peace meeting in Lokoja on Monday, prompted by concerns that some youths from both communities might take the law into their own hands while the case is pending in the Upper Area Court Idah.
The command urged both parties to maintain peace and allow the court to determine the outcome.
Both communities agreed to maintain peace until the court case is resolved.
CP Kankarofi assured that Police command is committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the State.
