As part of activities marking the 2025 Customer Service Week, the Nigeria Police Force held a strategic engagement with critical stakeholders in Lokoja to advance the mission of the Force, which includes maintaining law and order, preventing, detecting, and investigating crimes, protecting lives and properties, and upholding the fundamental rights of all citizens.
According to the Command spokesperson, SP William Aya, the engagement aimed to provide avenues for members of the public to give assessments based on their evaluation of police services in their respective areas. It also offered the command an opportunity to reflect on its successes, celebrate accomplishments, and re-evaluate its performance to enable the force to deliver the best possible service to the good people of Kogi state.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, disclosed that the mission of the Police can best be achieved through the effective implementation of the community policing approach, which involves working with community stakeholders to enhance crime control. He added that obtaining feedback from the public on services rendered by the Police in the state would help the command improve its service delivery.
He urged all Kogites to always report police misconduct through appropriate channels rather than resorting to social media.



He further assured the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to providing quality services in line with the law while calling for continued partnership and collaboration with the Police to enhance security in the state.
In his remarks, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 8, Lokoja, AIG Abubakar Zubairu, commended the public for their support and cooperation with the Command. He called on them to see themselves as police officers in plain clothes, stressing that the public has a vital role to play in peacebuilding within their communities. He noted that community policing provides the public with opportunities to actively participate in policing activities in their areas.
He urged members of the public to consistently provide feedback on police performance, adding that without such feedback, the Force cannot properly assess or improve its services.
He further advised residents to resist criminality within their communities and called on them to collaborate with the Police to eliminate crime from their areas.
Speaking on behalf of traditional Rulers, HRH Abdullahi Idris, the Chief of Jimgbe, commended the Police for the level of services they are rendering in the State, particularly Jimgbe community. He urged for more commitment from the police in performing their official mandate. He assured for his continued partnership and support to the police to improve on their service.
Also speaking on behalf of the Hoteliers Association, the Chairman, Hon. Ocheni Matthew, MD/CEO of Hotel Pacific, called for improve collaboration to make the State the safest where business activities and drive.
In his remarks the vice chairman of NURTW Lagos branch, Mr Obaro Obadofin, commended the Police for the engagement which he believes will further strengthen collaboration between the Police and the NURTW.
In his remarks the chairman of GSM Association, Cantonment, called for improve collaboration with the Police. He assured that the association is ready to partner with the Police through phone related cases.
Also the representative of NARTO, Abubakar Mohammed, assured of a greater level of cooperation with the Police through intelligence sharing.
Also the chairman of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) popurlarlly known as keke commended the Police for their dedication to service. While urging for sustained efforts to improve on the quality services expected from the police
The Okada union represented by Johnson Olu, commended the Police for the services, while urging for more collaboration and reaffirming strategic partnership for better service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of PCRC, Dr Achimugu Emmanuel commended the Police for the efforts in crime prevention detection and control in the State. He assured of the PCRC commitment to continue partnership with the Police and improve on its service delivery.
Those presents included members of the command management team, traditional rulers, community leaders, Zonal and State PCRC executives, members of NURTW, NARTO, RTEAN, Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Okada Union, student unions, NYCN, hoteliers’ union, traders, and youth leaders.
