The Kogi State Police Command have arrested the suspected killer of Chairman of Miyetti Allah, Alhaji Ibrahim Jalido,who was assassinated in his Lokja residence October 2016.
The suspect, Umar Abubakar, was arrested by the Police in Lokoja and paraded alongside 19 other suspects who were accused of kidnapping, culpable homicide, illegal possession of fire arms and hard drugs.
The Police disclosed that the Umar has confessed to the assassination of Alhaji Ibrahim Jalido which took place on Saturday, October 29, 2016 and he is currently helping the command in its investigation to track down others who are on the run.
The State Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalagwu, says the adoption of modern policing has yielded positive results since he assumed office including the arrest of suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and drugs dealers in Igalamela Odolu, Egume, Ankpa, Ibaji, Olamaboro and Kabba respectively.
While speaking on cases being prosecuted in the court of law under his command, the Police chief said the command is committed towards a crime free kogi State.
Among those arrested, one Ameh Happiness, an 18-year old girl, confessed to belonging to a gang of armed robbers and participated in three different operations, while Solomon Anthony and Enemona Godwin confessed to be Indian hemp dealers.
One locally made pistol, gun, military shirt and cap, a pair of military boot, operation belt, 150 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were some of the items were recovered from them.
Other suspects arrested by the command are: Idris Umar, Umar Mohammed, Hussain Yahaya, Ahmadu Kpanya, Adamu lamun, Yakubu Abdullahi, Hassan Abdullahi, Ekele Attah, and Yaro Ibrahim in which AK 47, pump action guns, 200 live cartridges, single barrel guns, dane guns, pistols, axe, cutlass, knap Sack sprayer were also recovered from them.
