The National Chairman of Network for Change and Good Governance (NCGG), Comrade Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi, has revealed that there is thick plot by some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Kogi state to obstruct the conduct of the governorship primary re-scheduled for Monday, 14th September.

Atumeyi, who spoke with Kogireports correspondent on phone today, alleged that the failed PDP leaders are the core supporters of Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho. He said their sinister plan is to ensure PDP does not present any candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

According to him, “these mis-leaders have concluded plans to create unnecessary tension on Monday and prevent the conduct of the primary election knowing fully well that the deadline for submission of names of candidates to Independent National Electoral Commision, INEC, is Tuesday, 15th September. However, the governorship ticket of Accord Party has been reserved for Echocho”

Comrade Atumeyi stressed that the plan to destroy PDP and move to Accord is real. They have notified some party leaders at the national secretariat that they will only move to Accord party temporarily promising that they will return to PDP after the elections.

Atumeyi urged PDP at the national level to obey the constitution of the party and conduct a free and fair primary as scheduled with the authentic list containing the names of the delegates who were duly elected during the ad-hoc delegates election. Wada is an aspirant, same for Echocho and Moses Amoto, let them test their popularity among delegates in a fair contest.

“While our group, NCGG, is non-partisan, we owe it a duty to challenge any anomaly in the polity and the current devious plans to disenfranchise other aspirants in PDP to satisfy the selfish interests of well-known political traders in Kogi state is an anomaly that must be exposed and challenged by every patriotic citizen of the state. We plead with the national leadership not to create a state of anarchy in Kogi. We, at NCGG, knows that the blessing of God is on Idris Wada.

“We emphatise with the governor of the state, Captain Idris Wada who has been a humble leader but seems his humility is being seen as stupidity in some quarters. This gentleman, for the first time in the history of Kogi state, has made frantic efforts to ensure there is peace in the state. Aside his success at reducing the spate of political thuggery to the bearest minimum, he also brought together aggrieved political leaders in the state across political divide. He did all he could to bring leaders like ex-governor Ibrahim Idris, Echocho and Audu together to ensure political stability and progress in the state”

“PDP must show more respect for the man who has been a loyal partyman and more importantly being a sitting governor of a state.

Atumeyi concluded with an advice to the state chapter of PDP urging them to be at alert and be be ready to conduct the re-scheduled primary election on Monday even if the national secretariat decide to play along with the traitors.
