I read this piece of garbage with consternation and disgust. Prince Dayo Akannmode planning an attack on the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Kolawole on behalf of Dr Toyin Akanle? The accusation is not only preposterous but is incredibly stupid.
I have never addressed Dayo Akanmode with the Prince title, that is because out of humility, he doesn’t revel in it. I chose to do so this time to distinguish him from some phoney Princes without pedigree that mess up the landscape.
Had the scribbler of the piece not played politics with facts, he would have known that Dayo Akanmode not only personifies integrity and character but he is a man who would never descend to the gutter in which the writer dwells.
In case of Dr Toyin Akanle, a man who excelled in the esoteric and dangerous world of Intelligence Management, reaching the pinnacle of his career to be slandered by an errand boy only magnifies the ludicrous state to which Kogi politics has descended.
That he contested in 2015 and ‘did not win’ can never be a yardstick for measuring his acceptability in 2018. He came in only a few weeks to the elections merely to introduce himself to the political arena, even at that he still commanded attention. Some people even though they had all the money and power of government behind then after over a decade in the arena were comprehensively rejected by the people.
Now on the matter of Kogi West Senatorial District representation, Toyin Akanle stands like a colossus above others. He is serious minded, focused, composed and organized. He is not given to frivolities, garrulousness and narcissism. He is quality personified and will go to the Red Chamber to represent us with dignity and decorum, make laws that will be of benefit to Nigerians and bring home development that will help build our impassible roads, dilapidated schools and hospitals.
To top these, by our civilised arrangement, it is the turn of Yagba Federal Constituency to go to that chamber. Ijumu LG, from which I hail, has been there for 12 years that have not been particularly outstanding but sometimes even question our judgements as people who are held up as being very educated. Still, someone or some people want to extend it to 16 year or beyond. Majority of Ijumu people are saying; Enough! It is not our birth right.
